We have one Social Worker post within the Cambridge North Adult Mental Health Social Work Team and one Social Worker post within the Cambridge South Adult Mental Health Social Work Team. This social work role is focused on supporting adults who are experiencing severe and complex mental health difficulties. We work within the multidisciplinary mental health team to provide a social work perspective and support people to move towards recovery, in whatever this means for them. We focus on early intervention and prevention in order to support peoples independence and connections within their communities. As a social work service, we undertake Adult Social Care Assessments and support planning under The Care Act 2014 to consider peoples strengths and needs and work in partnership with them to source solutions and interventions. We often work with the most vulnerable in society and our social workers are skilled at negotiating complex situations which may require skilled interventions, decision-making and action. We work within current Adult Social Care legislation and complete mental capacity assessments and best interest decisions. We proactively safeguard people in consideration of risks and protect people from harm whilst protecting their Human Rights and empowering people in their decisions. As a Mental Health Social Work team, we are also skilled in negotiating the local authoritys statutory duties with regards to S117 Mental Health Act 1983 aftercare. This includes completing multidisciplinary S117 reviews as well as pursuing joint support agreements with the ICB. We are a small and supportive team who meet up regularly in person to support the connections within the team and to support each other in our wellbeing and development. The posts main base will be at Union House, Cambridge. However, it will be possible for the post holder to spend time at different sites across the county as well as to work from home regularly.
