Your role and responsibilities
As an Administrator - Welfare Assistance, you will be a key part of the Public Health and Communities team, focusing on the Local Welfare Assistance Scheme (LWAS) to support those facing financial hardship in Suffolk.
You will provide administrative support to enable those experiencing financial hardship to access funding. Your primary responsibility will be reviewing applications for support using our internal Case Management System; GOSS. All applications are reviewed and processed in line with the eligibility criteria for the scheme. You will check all supporting evidence provided within the application is accurate and complete, and requesting additional information when this is not the case.
You will need to have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal as this role will require you to speak with members of the public directly as well as partner organisations to obtain necessary information about applications.
The LWAS team and role is a fast-paced, constantly changing environment as we continuously adapt our provision to support those most in need in Suffolk. You will have a positive, solution-focussed approach and be able to work well in a team. You will have good time management skills and be able to prioritise daily tasks to ensure all applications are reviewed and processed within our pre-agreed timeframes.
Experience working with vulnerable people and highly confidential information and data would be advantageous, but not essential, for this role, with the successful applicant requiring an enhanced DBS check in order to review and assess applications for financial support.

Our team is small but close-knit, and we work very well together. We value a positive attitude and a collaborative spirit to help create a good team atmosphere. The team consists of support operators and a project officer, and we are committed to supporting each other and achieving our goals.
We practice hybrid working, which means you will have the flexibility to work from home and the office. Our office days are usually on Wednesdays.
