Part of the Devon Cluster,HMP Exeter is a category B men’s reception prison with a small resettlement function, holding approximately 300 prisoners. The post includes an interesting and varied range of clinical responsibilities for prisoners including severe and enduring mental illness, neurodiversity, personality disorders, learning disability and head injuries. The work entails close multidisciplinary working within the mental health team and alongside the substance misuse and primary care teams in the prison.
