Based at Epsom General Hospital, SWLEOC is a partnership commissioned by four South West London acute hospital Trusts and provides routine and complex elective and non-urgent emergency orthopaedic surgery services to patients aged over 18. SWLEOC is the highest volume hip and knee replacement centre in the UK and one of the largest in the world. It performs around 6,300 procedures per year. Sub-specialties include hip and knee arthroplasty and revisions surgery, a young adult hip service, shoulder and elbow soft tissue and arthroplasty surgery and spinal surgery. Working under the direct supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse who delegates tasks to the post holder. The Healthcare Assistant (HCA) will deliver high quality nursing care to patients, as part of a team. The post holder is responsible for their own practice, working within the defined limits of competence and within the scope of the role. The registered nurse retains accountability for the care delivered by the HCA.
