The overall task of the successful candidate will be to develop a tool to determine precipitation changes downwind as a result of land use change (deforestation) upwind in Amazonia, and possibly other regions in the tropics. The candidate will first install an existing code which advects water vapor on the University High Performance computer system. They will then assemble the necessary climate input files to run the code over several years. Specifically, they will have to run tagged tracer runs to determine a sensitivity matrix of local precipitation change to evaporation change upwind.
